For rectal pap (male or female):

  • rectal brush

Specimen Required

  • Rectal Paps (Male or Female):
    • Rectal Pap reflex to HPV: This means that HPV testing will only be performed on this specimen if the Cytology result is ASC-US (Atypical Squamous Cells of Undetermined Significance)
  • Rectal Pap with HPV: Both a Pap and an HPV test will be performed regardless of the diagnosis

Specimen Stability Information

Specimens should be preserved in ThinPrep preservative and transported at room temperature.
